who political me?

Ok, forgive me if I ramble but I am so pissed off at our Federal Government! I mean seriously, Stephen Harper is now at that point of threatening families. How you say, well if you are a retired scientist and want to speak out against the government but have family who work for the feds you have to keep quiet because if not there is a very real chance that the family member will get canned. He has changed taxation the wealthy get to stay even more wealthy with not having to pay appropriate taxes.

His wheeling and dealing with China. I don't have to say much on this one, but hello, Harper, China has some of the worse human rights violations and the worse environmental record around! Why on earth are you making deals with them?! I mean selling Canada off to foreign investors piece by piece shows your disdain for Canada, and really I am curious where it is you plan to live out the rest of your days after you destroy Canada and its reputation on the world stage. Really? Where? The US perhaps all cozied up to your friend in the Republican Party?

I love Canada, and am a proud Canadian. Here is what I am not proud of as a Canadian. The complete lack of understanding on what is going on in our politics by most Canadians. The sheer ignorance at what is going on with respect to trade, the environment and the parcelling off of this country. The apathy. Get off your god damned asses and protest! Yes you heard me protest! The Quebec students did it and made a difference. They are not whiny or entitled, they are passionate and told everyone in the country that! They got results!

The rest of Canada seems to be so turned in on themselves that it is nuts! How is it that we are so divided. I mean Canadians talk about separating but honestly we already are. I am from NS and I will tell you that regional pride is alive and well. We need something that will bring the country together with passion, pride and foremost, understanding of what will make Canada work now and going into the future.

We have an incredibly educated population. Here in Ottawa no one's job is safe. So from the lowly whatever job you want to say is low right up to the oh so protected government workers who aren't so protected any-more  we are all at risk of having no job, and no means to keep our families fed and sheltered. Not to mention the Conservatives attack on our social safety net, such as it is!

All I know is that Canada is on the verge of a very bad crash and burn and I for one can see it coming and wonder why others have their blinders on so snug they deny it!

oh my gods

What has happened is nothing short of a miracle! I figured out how to use this damned thing! LOL

Well hell expect more ranting from here on out!

rape

I am not angry at this moment but what makes me angry is the cancer in our society that allows sexual assault to continue by discouraging its victims to come forward. Things like the slut walk and take back the night just aren't getting their message across. People who are sexually assaulting others are getting away with it. No one is talking about it. We talk about being abused by people in authority, we talk about AIDS, we talk about abstinence, birth control, abortion, adoption, being gay, trans-gendered; which is all good. The thing is how did we just skip over peer sexual assault by teens. Both sexes are being raped, molested, and both are keeping silent. Why? Because the stigma, because of bullshit being said about how she was dressed, how he must be gay, etc. It is all too much for these 'children' to cope with. Parents, teachers, society in general have to open up and let these secrets be told. Shaming the victim, making it out to be their fault, these are reasons that they don't come forward. What if they think I wanted it, what if they think I am a slut, what if they don't believe me? What kind of mental torment must this be for children, because as much as they are teenagers they are still children despite what the media and people will tell you. Teens need our support, our guidance and help. They need to know that no means no, that being intoxicated doesn't mean yes, and helping someone home doesn't mean help yourself.

This is going on in pandemic proportions! This is big city, small town stuff. It doesn't matter if they are from poor families or rich ones. Rape knows no boundaries, and has to stop, the perpetrators have to be held accountable for their actions and their choices. If you aren't sure, then it is NO! Just NO! Enough of blaming people for their clothing, or walking alone. Seriously if a person is hit by a car that is speeding do you blame the pedestrian, the vehicle? No you blame the driver who chose to speed and drive recklessly. That is rape, no one chooses it, looks for it, or deserves it. It is a choice the rapist makes and they need to be held accountable for making that life altering decision that can destroy the victims life!
